Nkiru Olumide-Ojo
Nkiru Olumide-Ojo is a Corporate Communications and Social Impact Executive dedicated to leading multi-country teams in brand development and social impact initiatives. Having worked in various sectors including Finance, Telecommunications, Aviation and Petroleum, Nkiru Olumide-Ojo boasts of over 20 years of corporate reputation building and social impact management.
With a passion for and experience in leading social impact efforts, Nkiru has managed projects with international impact organisations such as the United Nations world food programme, and Global Fund, across various African countries.
A John Maxwell certified coach, Nkiru is the founder of Lighthouse Women’s Network, a social development group focused on empowering women through workplace readiness programmes, structured mentorship, advocacy, and other programmes.
Nkiru received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Science from the University of Calabar and a Master of Arts degree in Strategic Marketing Management from
Kingston University, Surrey, London. She is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations [NIPR] and a Member of the UK Chartered Institute of Marketing United Kingdom.

Nkiru currently works as Executive Head, Regional Marketing and Corporate Communication at Standard Bank Group, South Africa. Before Standard Bank Group, she was Executive Head, Brand Corporate Communication and CSI at the bank from March 2013 to May 2018. She previously worked as Head of Corporate Communications and CSI at African Petroleum from June 2011 to March 2013. Other places she has worked include Bharti Airtel Nigeria, Virgin Atlantic Airways and Virgin Nigeria Airways.
Nkiru is also a published author. Her book titled The Pressure Cooker: Lessons from a Woman at Work was published by Narrative Landscape Press. The book is a culmination of Nkiru’s weekly column in Business Day (Nigeria) newspaper, which focused on issues related to women and the workplace. The 128-page book mirrors the prospects, exploits and challenges of women in the professional environment. It offers a “pragmatic insight into how women can be successful in their careers, while also maintaining a decent homefront.”
In recognition of her work in Marketing and Communications, Nkiru received the Best Corporate Brand Manager Award at the 2017 Brands & Marketing Awards organised by the Brand Journalists’ Association of Nigeria (BJAN). In the same year, she was honoured with Leading Marketing Personality of the Year by Marketing Edge. In 2008 and 2016 she was also recognized as one of the Leading Women in Marketing and Communication by Marketing World West Africa, one of the ‘Top 40 Females Under 40 by Nigerians in Diasporas Professional, (NIPRO) and was featured on Africa’s leading women in PR and Marketing.
