Olajide Abiola is a system designer and data analyst. He is the Co-founder and Chief Executive Officer of KiaKia, an AI powered financial market that provides direct personal loans at flexible rates, and also match borrowers with individual or corporate lenders at mutually agreed rates. KiaKia offers loans from N10,000 and N200,000 for a minimum duration of seven days and a maximum of 30 days.

Olajide observed how difficult it was applying for loans and overdrafts even from banks where clients’ salary accounts were domiciled. To overcome these hurdles of securing loans from the bank, Olajide voluntarily retired from the military, and ventured into a career in IT to gain experience. He founded KiaKia in 2016.

Since starting operations, KiaKia’s primary focus has been on serving the underserved, regardless of their geographical or social status. In order to relieve the burden off potential clients, KiaKia’s services are purely online. Once applications are received, the company processes data, authenticates identity, and finally disburses funds online.

In order to serve the underbanked population, Olajide has ensured that Kiakia maintains the same low non-performing loan rate of 1.09% since its launch. As a peer-to-peer platform, KiaKia has recorded over 50 active customers in four states and over 5,700 customers in 17 states for consumer loans.

Olajide completed a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Ilorin, and other certifications from the Nigeria Military School, Microsoft, University of Michigan and UC Irvine.

Olajide has led his team to work on several IT projects including the Osun State Identity Management Solution and Software Development and Bio-Data Capture for the Power Holding Company of Nigeria Plc Staff in 40 locations across 18 states of the country.

Olajide is a Fellow of Institute of Strategic Management, Nigeria, and Gartner Research Circle. He volunteers as an IT trainer at Joint Initiative for Development, and has published a paper on African Enterprise.
