Olutosin Oni is the Principal of EchoVC Partners. EchoVC Partners focuses on financing and cross-pollinating leading technologies and business models in sub-Saharan Africa, Europe, and America. Olutosin Oni is our MCM today.
Olutosin graduated with a Master of Science degree in Computing Science and a Master of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College, London. His career spans the financial/investment sectors, contributing to the financial development and growth of various companies.
Olutosin’s career cuts across areas of investments, debt management and capital management. He has been responsible for developing and executing various companies’ strategy to develop a pipeline of new investment products.
Olutosin develops investment products for high-net-worth clients, oversees financial modelling and provides quality advice to clients on capital raising options. He started his career on the research and technology desk of Quality Capital Management, a systematic global macro hedge fund trading where he led the revamp of the firm’s proprietary technology platform that supports all its operations and trading strategy research activities.

As Principal at EchoVC Partners, a position he assumed since September 2017, Olutosin worked on and supports the firm’s investment in Mines.io, PayJoy, SystemOne, World Cover, Kukua and FinAccess. Since joining EchoVC Partners, the company has invested over $40 million in companies that have raised more than $300 million over the last four years.
Prior to joining EchoVC Partners, Olutosin founded Permutare Markets Limited, a financial markets technology company in 2015. He was previously Vice President, structuring at FBN Capital Limited from 2011 to 2014, managing the launch of the structuring desk and led the development of the desk’s risk management and performance management frameworks. He was also responsible for setting up the firm’s structured product vehicle through which the company managed over ₦100 billion in assets and led the development of FBN Capital’s Market Making desk.
Also at FBN Capital, Olutosin advised on over $500 million of debt financing for Nigerian corporates, including Nigeria’s first Residential Mortgage-Backed Securitization and further advised on the restructuring of $300 million debt.
At United Bank for Africa (UBA) Global Markets Olutosin served as Senior Associate from April 2006 to April 2009, working on transactions and raising over US$1 billion in debt capital. At UBA, he also advised the Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria on the structuring and issuance of $26 Billion series 1 notes under the ₦100 Billion Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria Mortgage-Backed Securities Programme.
