Seun Fakorede 

Seun Fakorede is the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Oyo State Government, Nigeria. He became the youngest commissioner in the history of Nigeria when he was first appointed as Oyo State’s Commissioner for Youth and Sports on 26th August 2019. He served until July 2021 and was reappointed on the 11^th of October 2021.

A United Nations (UN) Peace Ambassador and African Union (AU) Youth Representative, Seun Fakorede is passionate about youth empowerment and development in Africa. To provide impact, he founded  Home Advantage Africa (HAA), a non-profit dedicated to promoting local dominance and global stardom in Africa through digital storytelling and similar projects. At HAA, Seun also serves as an Executive Director. 

Seun believes more African youths are going to lead tremendous growth in the next few years than ever before and his responsibility is to help more people lead this charge. He has been able to achieve this through seminars, conferences and partnerships with organizations. In October, he announced the Seun Fakorede Tech Learning and Scholarships for Youths, in partnership with Utiva, a global leader in digital skills learning and enterprise transformation. After the training session, 21 youths were awarded a full scholarship to enrol in any of Utiva’s tech programs.

Seun holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Civil Engineering from Obafemi Awolowo University , Ile-Ife, Osun State. He is a Member of the Junior Chambers International (JCI).

Before his appointment, he was Supervising Engineer at the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation. Seun boasts of over five years of experience providing comprehensive administrative, operational and managerial support to various organisations. Seun’s expertise lies in coordinating and leading administrative and operational functions for senior-level personnel and executives. Backed by exceptional communication and multitasking capabilities, he excels at delivering remarkable results and driving optimal efficiency and success. 

Seun enjoys driving conversations around topics related to sustainable development, leadership, national socio-economic transformation, youth empowerment, good governance and nation-building.

In recognition of his impact on youth empowerment and development in Nigeria, Seun received an award of excellence at the University of Ibadan in 2017 and the Excellence in Service Award by the Life Media Group International. He was also honoured with The Future Awards Africa Prize for Governance in the year 2020.
