Simi Signs Music Deal with Apple’s Platoon Records
Award-winning singer, Simisola Ogunleye, popularly known as Simi, has signed a partnership deal with Platoon, a UK-based record label owned by Apple Music.
Platoon has also handed out advances to various African acts especially in Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa, in the last three years.
Simi shared the news via her Twitter page saying “New week and new deal. I’m officially part of the @weareplatoon family!”
The Duduke crooner also shared a video montage of herself and announced the coming of her next studio project titled ‘Restless’ EP.
“I am a singer and songwriter. I have been singing for a decade now. The influences I had in music especially when I was young were Lauryn Hill and Asa as well. I love Adele,” Simi said in the montage.
Simi further stated” Platoon definitely stood out for me because of the energy. When you are doing art, it is always important for everyone to be on the same wavelength. It was like a no brainer for me.”
The CEO of Platoon Records, Denzyl Feigelson, welcomed Simi to the Platoon family saying, “We are really looking forward to seeing your music spread out to the entire globe, which it should.”
The development comes months after Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, also signed with Platoon Music before the release of ‘Original Copy’, her debut EP. Mr Eazi was also recently signed by label.
