The Nigeria Police Force is Leveraging Digital Innovation to Combat Crimes in Nigeria with the ‘NPF Rescue Me’ Application
In a bid to properly fight crimes and insecurities in Nigeria, the Nigeria Police Force recently launched a new mobile application, NPF Rescue Me. The mobile application offers technological solutions to insecurity and other emergency situations faced by citizens of Nigeria. The NPF Rescue Me app was carefully designed to help victims or witnesses of criminal activities and other emergency situations to immediately report to the police, who will in turn provide a swift response. The application is taking crime combat and response to emergency situations in Nigeria to a new level.
The NPF Rescue Me application is user friendly and compatible with android and IOS operating systems, enabling users to have a seamless experience while navigating. The app highlights eight different types of alerts in emergency cases such as homicide, medical situations, assault, domestic threats and more. The app further provides Nigerians with the peace of mind they deserve.
Brilliant Features of the Application
In accordance with its purpose of combating crimes and reducing insecurities to the barest minimum, here are the features enabling its purpose.
Emergency Alert
The emergency feature enables a user to tap the emergency button once there is an emergency situation. This alert will then be sent automatically to the Nigeria Police Force’ Command and Control team, where trained operators will track user’s location with GPS and deliver the necessary help their way.

Report Crime
This Report Crime feature enables users to immediately alert the police once a crime has been committed or if at all their safety is at stake. The Report Crime feature of the app uses a web-based dispatch system which enables quick help and intervention by men of the Nigeria Police Force.
Navigation
The navigation feature pin-points current locations of users and guides them accurately to their destination using GPS once they need the right guide.
Contacts Add
With the Contacts Add feature, users can save the contact details of their parents, guardians, relatives or those they will like to reach out to at the tap of a button in case of an emergency.
Report a Police
This feature outrightly addresses discourteous behaviours or contrary behaviours exercised by a police officer. The feature makes it easier to reach out to the Nigeria Police Public Complaints Rapid Response Unit. Users can file a report by simply clicking on this feature, with an option to upload valuable pieces of evidence.
Request an Ambulance
The Request an Ambulance Feature addresses cases of medical emergencies like road accidents and fire outbreaks. With a gentle tap on the icon, the Nigeria Police Force will get an ambulance and a medical team dispatched to the user’s location via a web-based GPS tracking.
