In a significant announcement by the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) in collaboration with the Federal Sports Ministry, Tobi Amusan, the world record holder in the women’s 100m hurdles, has been named Nigeria’s flag-bearer for the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympics. The ceremony, set to take place on the River Seine on Friday, July 26, 2024, will mark the official start of the much-anticipated Games.
The announcement was confirmed in a statement released by Tony Nezianya, the press attaché for Team Nigeria. The statement also revealed that Anuoluwapo Opeyori of the badminton team had been appointed the general captain of Team Nigeria’s contingent for the Paris Games.

Tobi Amusan, a reigning world record holder in the 100m hurdles, is one of Nigeria’s brightest medal prospects in Paris. Anuoluwapo Opeyori, a seasoned badminton player, has represented Nigeria since 2017.
