Wale Oyedeji Appointed as Independent Non-Executive Director, Stanbic IBTC Bank
The management of Stanbic IBTC recently disclosed the appointment of Wale Oyedeji as an Independent Non-Executive Director, following his assessment and approval by the Board of Directors, Stanbic IBTC.
Wale Oyedeji’s Educational background includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from the University of Ibadan, 1990 and a Master of Science in Financial Economics, from the University of London. Wale is an alumnus of the Management Programme of Harvard Business School, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Taxation.
Wale’s Experience spans over 25 years in the banking sector, including corporate banking, commercial banking and treasury. He joined Guarantee Trust Bank in 1994 and was later appointed as the Managing Director of GT Bank, United Kingdom between 2008 and 2011. Wale’s knowledge and expertise necessitated his appointment to the Board of the bank from October 19, 2011 to 2018, where he served as the Executive Director for the corporate bank group and contributed positively to actualize the vision and growth of the bank.

Prior to his career with Guarantee Trust Bank, he worked at Ernst & Young, Lagos for two years.
The Chief Executive of Stanbic IBTC, Wole Adeniyi expressed that Wale’s experience and expertise qualifies him for the role. In his statement, Wale was considered following the approval of the board and other required regulatory body. Speaking on his appointment, Wole Adeniyi said,
“The Board is pleased to welcome Wale Oyedeji to the Board of the Bank and will undoubtedly benefit from his wealth of experience.”
