Wunmi first ventured into the fashion industry in 2008 as a brand coordinator of a fashion brand called Virgos Lounge, a London-based womenswear brand. As a brand coordinator, Wunmi was involved in almost all levels of the business’s value chain, and in 2014, she monitored transactions for the business worth over £1,000,000.
Wunmi previously served as a Project Manager for the 2018 Bridal Fashion Week in Lagos which turned out to be a huge success. She was later appointed as Head of the Women’s Fashion Category of Jumia. While at Jumia, Wunmi had access to the core of the African fashion scene and a clear understanding of the value chain, its challenges and opportunities. She knew she didn’t want to only be part of the solution but lead the pack of young people building a thriving fashion economy for Africa.
After Jumia, Wunmi founded Fashtracker in February 2020. The company now has about 30 brands currently listed on its platform, and is increasing orders within the continent and beyond, particularly in Europe and America where Ankara gowns and other African print dresses are popular among non-Africans.
Wunmi completed a bachelor’s degree in Fashion and Textile from University of Kent, England, and a master’s degree in Entrepreneurship, Finance and Innovation from Loughborough University.
Wunmi volunteers as a mentor for LEAP Africa and Oxfam.
