Yemi Adamolekun, the latest recipient of the Global Citizen Prize’s 2022 Citizen Award Nigeria is our WCW.

Yemi Adamolekun is a Nigerian activist and Executive Director of Enough is Enough Nigeria, a non-partisan network committed to building a culture of public accountability in Nigeria through active citizenship. Yemi Adamolekun campaigns for better governance in Nigeria and is also a senior associate in the Center for Strategic and International Studies. Yemi was recently announced as one of the winners of the 2022 Global Citizen Prize for her impact on governance.

Alongside Israel Aye, Ndidi and Yemi Osinaike, Adamolekun was on a panel which asked political candidates questions in the Lagos Gubernatorial debate before Nigeria’s 2019 General Elections. She was also a spokesperson for the Not in My Church movement.

Yemi has a 20-year diverse career spanning the public and private sectors in the United States and Nigeria. She began her career working at Navigant Consulting, and later at Alder Consulting. She later became Executive Director of Enough is Enough, which campaigns and demands for better governance. The organization co-ordinates different groups and broadcasts radio shows in 25 states. It also supports local initiatives, such as working against violence in Katsina, reopening a healthcare center in Osun State and helping to repair the roofs of schools in Niger State.

Yemi also volunteers. She has volunteered for Kaleyewa House, an NGO founded by her late mother. The NGO focuses on the elderly in the  the community.

Yemi sits on the boards of Make it Happen Productions and the After School Career Development Centre, Calabar. 

Yemi is the recipient of numerous accolades. In 2018, she was named as one of the Most Influential People of African Descent (MIPAD), endorsed by the United Nations in the Humanitarian & Religious category. Recently, she was honored with the 2022 Citizen Award Nigeria.
