The mobile application built around the Nigerian school curriculum is targeted at addressing the challenges associated with kids learning. The platform uses games as an alternative to traditional learning and instructional opportunities for kids while helping them learn other core skills and values such as critical thinking and analytical skills. Studies have shown that games and other forms of imaginative play can serve as a valuable educational tool and a powerful complement to the traditional education system.

9ijakids was co-founded in 2018 by Titi Adewusi, Yeside Ogunremi, and Dayo Amusu, who are all passionate about enhancing children’s learning experiences and revolutionizing learning across Nigeria. Remarkably, the 9ijakids team has collated and analyzed data over time to validate the impact of their app.

At 9ija Kids, Titi and her team utilize technology and gamification to help children increase academic performance while imbibing key life skills such as financial literacy, entrepreneurship, leadership, value creation, and civic values. The adopted strategy for this innovation is rather simple; develop games that children love, teach them core skills and values; so that learning seems, feels, and sounds effortless. The app has over 250 games.

Titi and her team believe that children learn best when a wholistic approach is employed.

“The idea of 9ijakids is to create learning moments from any topic using games, puzzles, songs, activity books, etc. Our approach to our game portfolio is to look at the total child; not just academics, but also life skills like financial literacy, values, and most importantly promote the Nigerian culture and heritage”. Says Titi.

In 2019, 9ijakids emerged top 10 in the Union Bank Edtech Challenge and was also a top 10 finalist in the Africa UK Female Tech Founders Challenge. In 2019, the company launched its activity books, an offline version of the games, which sold over 4000 copies within a month.
