Between 2009 and 2010 Morenike worked with Exxon Mobil, a natural gas company in Nigeria. She later joined Protax Consulting in 2012 and became the Managing Director at Newer Heights Limited in 2013.
In 2017, Morenike‘s passion for entrepreneurship, especially in the interior design industry led her to venture fully into her interior decoration and design business. Through intensive personal and career development, she built Oak and Teak into a full-service interior design and furniture making company, now renowned in Nigeria.
Morenike began by targeting a sub-segment of the industry. At the time of starting the business, parents in Nigeria were looking to furnish and set up baby nurseries. She served this segment successfully and gradually diversified the Oak and Teak service offerings and expanded the clientele to include residential and commercial spaces. Although Oak and Teak are based in Lagos, it serves clients in Nigeria and abroad, across several industries including; financial service, hospitality, non-profits, schools, and hotels.
Morenike believes in giving back! As part of her social responsibility efforts and contribution toward nation-building, she hosts free seminars for upcoming interior designers who desire to go into the design business. She has trained more than 200 people, who mostly started their businesses.
