Nigerian athlete Tobi Amusan has made history ogain, setting a world-leading time of 12.40 seconds (0.9m/s) in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Jamaica Athletics Invitational in Kingston. This impressive feat comes just two months before the Paris 2024 Olympics, where Amusan is expected to lead Team Nigeria to a medal haul.
Amusan’s victory saw her defeat two-time world champion Danielle Williams, who finished second with a season’s best time of 12.46 seconds, and American Christina Clemons, who took third place with a time of 12.54 seconds. This achievement marks a significant milestone for Amusan, who has now taken over the world lead from American Tonea Marshall, who had run 12.42 seconds in late April.
