Toyin F. Sanni

Toyin Sanni is the Founder and Executive Vice-Chair of Emerging Africa Group, a financial services group focused on Investment Banking, Financial Technology, Venture Capital and Microfinance Banking. She served as Group Chief Executive Officer of the firm between July 2018 and January 2022 and as Chairman, Emerging Africa Asset Management between April 2020 and December 2021.

Toyin Sanni is also Co-Founder of the Africa Investment Roundtable, Board Chair at Layer 3 Limited and Vice-Chair, Fundall Limited. She is as well the Founder and Chairperson of the Women in Finance Nigeria Network and WIFNG UK. Toyin Sanni’s past experiences include leadership roles as CEO Trustees/ Global Investor Services at UBA Group, (2006 – 2014), Group CEO at United Capital Plc, (2014 – 2018), President, Association of Investment Advisers (CIIA), President, Investment Advisers and Portfolio Managers (IAPM), and President, Association of Corporate Trustees.

With extensive experience gained across multiple leadership roles, Toyin Sanni leverages networks across markets to achieve various growth objectives. She leads a team of experts who provide advisory & capital raising solutions across Africa to achieve sustainable economic growth.

A well-known Investment Banker, Public Speaker and most recently, LinkedIn Influencer, Toyin Sanni contributes greatly to capacity building initiatives including Executive Mentorship programs and provides solutions for financial and investment challenges of African governments, businesses & individuals.

Toyin Sanni boasts of a background in Law from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and the University of Lagos  (UNILAG) where she obtained a bachelor’s and master’s degree respectively. She is an alumna of the IESE Business School, the Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University, the Wharton School and Harvard Business School. 

Toyin sits on the boards of several organizations including Transnational Corporation Plc, the Off-Grid Energy Fund – Financing Energy Inclusion (OGEF-FEI) sponsored by the AfDB and other International Development Finance Institutions, NEPAD Business Group Nigeria, and the Pearl Awards Governance Board. She is Chair of the Technical Committee on Financial Literacy of the Nigerian Capital Market and Ambassador/Co-chair of the Africa CEO Forum Network for Nigeria. 

Toyin was named the All African Business Woman of the year 2017 by CNBC Africa, & Nigeria’s CEO of the Year 2017 by Pearl Awards. The Pearl Awards are given to Nigeria’s leading companies and her company received four other awards including the Overall Best Company, Corporate Governance award, Highest Dividend Yield and Sector award for Non-bank Financial services companies. In 2020, she won the Africa Influencer (CEO) Award by Tech Times Africa and she is currently recognized as a LinkedIn Influencer. 

Toyin is the author of three books including Riding The Eagle – A Guide to Investing in Nigeria. 

She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investments, United Kingdom.
