Dr Adebisi Araba
Dr Adebisi Araba is a Public Policy and Strategy Specialist with an impressive portfolio in the African agricultural sector. He currently serves as Managing Director of Africa Green Revolution Forum (AGRF), the premier multi-platform for food and agriculture transformation in Africa and leads the development of climate-smart strategies in the agricultural sector.
As Managing Director, Dr Adebisi Araba drives AGRF’s strategic growth and running of the day-to-day business of the multi-partner forum to advance the continental agenda for African Agriculture and food systems based on the Malabo Declaration and Sustainable Development Goals.
Dr Adebisi Araba joined AGRF from the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) system, where he served for four years as the Africa Regional Director at the International Centre for Tropical Agriculture (CIAT). At CIAT, he led the institution’s mission to increase the standard of living and improve human nutrition through research-based solutions in agriculture and the environment.
Dr Araba’s educational background includes a Doctorate in Environmental Policy from the Centre for Environmental Policy, Imperial College London, where his research focused on designing frameworks for incorporating evidence-based research into environmental policy in developing countries. He holds the following degrees: Masters in public administration from the Harvard University Kennedy School of Government, Masters of Science in Clean Technology from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne and a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Geography from the University of Ibadan.

Before CIAT, Adebisi was Senior Manager, African policy engagement, with the CGIAR research program on Climate Change, Agricultural and Food Security (CCAFS), where he established and strengthened institutional partnership and connected CGIAR research output with the needs of the private sector. He also served as Technical Adviser on Environmental Policy to the Nigerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, where he co-authored Nigeria’s National Agricultural Resilience Framework and led national and global partnerships in the development of climate-smart strategies for the agricultural sector.
Apart from his institutional roles, Adebisi is a recognized thought leader across the African agricultural sector. He was a member of the Montpellier Malabo Panel of experts whose objectives were to ensure regional agricultural development and food security priorities in Africa. He was also a member of the Advisory Committee of the African Leaders for Nutrition and a member of the New Vision for Agriculture Transformation Leaders Network of the World Economic Forum.
Dr Adebisi Araba is a respected and published academic who has presented his work at various conferences across the globe. He is a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society and a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, International Solid Wastes Association and the Collaborative Working Group on Solid Waste Management in Low and Middle-Income Countries.
