Dr Adereni Abiodun
Dr Adereni Abiodun has carved a niche for himself in the Nigerian health technology space through providing invaluable healthcare services to women and infants.
Dr Adereni Abiodun is a Social Innovator and Founder of HelpMum, a social platform leveraging modern and low-cost technology innovations to solve issues relating to maternal and infant mortality in remote areas in Nigeria and Africa. In 2020, his initiative was one of the 77 groups selected by Facebook for its Community Accelerator program in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Dr Abiodun Adereni founded the HelpMum organization in 2017 to provide basic health information to pregnant women. From initially carrying out rural outreach programmes to provide health services, the startup transitioned to the distribution of clean birth kits, the use of a Vaccination Tracking System (VTS) to send SMS reminders to women about vaccination, and training of Traditional Birth Attendants (TBAs) to help women in communities with limited access to healthcare. So far, it has reached over 27,000 pregnant women and nursing mothers.

MumHealth, an E-commerce platform for pregnant women and new mums in Africa is also one of Dr Adereni’s brilliant initiatives. Since starting operations in November 2018, MumHealth has sold over 10,000 units of maternal and infant products across 23 states in Nigeria.
Dr Adereni completed a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Ibadan, Oyo State and a certificate in Entrepreneurship Management from the Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University.
At 19, an undergraduate; Dr Adereni co-founded Reni Farms, a social enterprise focused on providing soft loans and working space for women in remote communities to rear poultry birds and sell to customers. Having supported 15 rural women at the time, he received the award for Best Student Initiative of the year 2013 by the University of Ibadan Student Union Government. He was also a member of the 2nd runner-up team in the Hult Prize Challenge at the University of Ibadan in 2016, one of the biggest social-enterprise competitions organized by Hult Business School and supported by Bill Clinton.
The social entrepreneur is a recipient of several awards and recognitions. He is a 2020 Facebook Community Accelerator Fellow and winner, 2019 Google Impact Challenge winner, United Nations Startup for SDGs winner, Western Union Foundation Grantee (twice), a 2018 D-Prize Global Ambassador, 2018/19 LEAP Africa Social Innovators Programme Fellow and a 2017 Tony Elumelu Foundation Fellow.
