Dr Cassandra Akinde is a Medical Doctor and a Team Leader at the Neo Child Initiative, a non-profit organization driven by a group of young and vibrant professionals with the aim of promoting child-health awareness, empowering and facilitating sustainable education to help Nigerian children make healthy choices in their life’s journey.

Dr Cassandra Akinde is a medical professional with a strong dedication to child health advocacy, humanitarian duties, human rights and environmental sustainability. Through her commitment to child health and social responsibilities, Dr Cassandra has gained 4 years’ experience of working and making landmark achievements in various non-profit organizations.

Dr Cassandra’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Lagos, Nigeria, a non-profit Leadership and Management Sustainability studies from the renowned Lagos Business School Pan Atlantic University and a master’s degree in Tropical Medicine and Control of Infectious Diseases. She is currently undergoing a master’s degree in Tropical Medicine and International Health at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, with a focus on the prevalence of neglected tropical diseases, outbreak preparedness, exploring policy recommendations and evaluation of disease control programs and healthcare delivery solutions in Sub-Saharan Africa.

As a medical practitioner with demonstrated expertise in preventive medicine, public health advocacy and sustainable development goals, Dr Cassandra works currently works with the Neo Child Initiative as a Team Lead. At the Neo Child Initiative, Dr Cassandra is responsible for planning, designing, monitoring and coordinating project execution. She also oversees the successful implementation of field programs, stakeholder management and ensures quality delivery of total operations. She has also worked as a Medical Officer with the Lagos State Government in 2018, serving as a first-line officer for diagnosis and patient management. 

In addition to her valuable work experience, Dr Cassandra has volunteered for several not-for-profit organizations including being a Finance Director at Rotary International from 2013-2014, a Community Volunteer for Ebola Alert from May 2014 to 2015 and a General Volunteer at Crisis.

She is currently an Executive Assistant for Health at the MEDGLOBE Initiative, a Campaign Champion for Save the Children, in the United Kingdom, a Welfare Officer at One Young World, a Global Youth Ambassador at Theirworld, Student Ambassador at the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine as well as a Global Goodwill Ambassador.

She has contributed as a mentor and facilitator for various organizations on equipping volunteers with essential research skills and relevant social impact skills to further empower the younger generations to make life-changing decisions.

For her proven track record and demonstrated experience in volunteering, community health advocacy, leadership and youth empowerment, Dr Cassandra earned a Chevening Award Scholarship to study in the United Kingdom and was named among 100 most inspiring women in Nigeria by Leading Ladies Africa, including winning a LinkedIn Influencer Award for Health/Medicine.

Dr Cassandra aspires to develop both professionally and academically, in order to create sustainable and innovative solutions that would improve the global health sector. She is interested in practical research to enable her to practice medicine successfully in low and middle-income countries. Dr Cassandra constantly hopes to bridge the gap in the Nigerian health care sector and to enable access to quality health care for all.
