Emmanuella is a Proud Winner of the 2021 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards
Emmanuella Samuel, Nigeria’s popular YouTube Child comedian won the Favourite African Social Media Star category of the 2021 Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards by public voting. She gets to include an orange blimp in her growing collection of globally recognized awards. The humorous and entertaining child-comedian was nominated alongside one of Nigeria’s most creative online comedy group, Ikorodu Bois and others from Africa like Elsa Majimbo, Ghetto Kids, Wiam Van Den Berg, and Bonang Matheba.
Other African winners include Mo Salah, an Egyptian professional footballer and Liverpool Football Club soccer star who got the award for Favourite African Star, and Vanessa Nakate, a Ugandan climate justice activist, who was named “Together for Good” winner, for her tireless efforts in promoting climate awareness.
The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards is observed annually in the United States and produced by Nickelodeon, an American pay television channel primarily targeted at children and teenagers between the ages of 2 and 17. This year’s awards ceremony recognized the most talented and entertaining stars across the broad space of film, television, music, sports, video game and social media. The event was hosted by Kenan Thompson and featured impressive performances by Grammy award-winning superstar, Justin Bieber.
Emmanuella is a comedian on Mark Angel’s YouTube comedy channel, who made her first appearance on episode 34 of the skit. Following her smartness and ability to memorize lines quickly and fluently, she rose to stardom after starring in the viral comedy skit “My Real Face”, especially for her catchphrase “This is not my real face o” which many found amusing and imitable. Asides from becoming a household favourite, the skit was featured on CNN’s Facebook page.
