Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has appointed Adenike Oyetunde, founder of Amputees United as the Senior Special Assistant on Persons Living with Disability. The information on her appointment was contained in a statement published on the official Instagram account of the Lagos State Government. 

Adenike Oyetunde is a radio host on Nigerian Info FM, an amputee and disability rights advocate as well as a gratitude coach.

Speaking on her appointment, the Lagos State Head of Service, Mr Hakeem Muri-Okunola disclosed that Adenike’s appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Lagos, Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs) stems from the confidence in her capabilities and demonstrated commitment to the rights and well-being of PLWDs.

Adenike’s appointment will no doubt improve the lives of Nigerians living with disabilities. Through her organization, Amputee United which she launched in 2017, Adenike provides support for amputees and creates a safe space for them. The initiative is promoting a community where amputees can hold hands with others who have same experience and get the necessary support to live with the challenges of the new reality.

Adenike completed a bachelor’s degree from Olabisi Onabanjo University and went ahead to attend the Nigerian Law School. 

She holds a weekday show on Nigerian Info FM, 99.3 where she discusses a wide range of subjects, from politics to lifestyle and life experiences. She is a cancer survivor who has dedicated her life and social media pages to help and encourage cancer patients and amputees to face the new world. She has impacted the lives of several people by sharing uplifting stories of personal encounters and miraculous interventions on social media. 

Adenike is the convener of “Gratitude Jar Challenge”, where people are encouraged to keep a jar where they write about life experiences they are grateful for. She has taken up her social media accounts to share her survival story in order to serve as an inspiration to others. Adenike has also led several social impact programs, one of which involved raising funds for cancer patients on World Cancer Day. 

Adenike Oyetunde is passionate about spreading the word on cancer and other social causes. We congratulate her on her appointment as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Persons Living with Disability. We are so proud.
