Other spotlight stories include the feat of Funke Akindele’s record-breaking comedy film, ‘Omo Ghetto: The Saga,’ the selection of seven trailblazing Nigerians into the Aspen New Voices Fellowship and the innovative use of recycled waste material for the construction of a three-room apartment in Kaduna. The comedy film was released into the cinema on the 25th of December 2020, starring several notable Nollywood stars. Seven Nigerians were selected for the 2021 Aspen Institute’s New Voices Fellowship. They include pathfinding experts who would take up roles as advocates and policymakers in the global development discussions. The Nigerians are Adekemi Adeniyan, Maymunah Kadiri, Nelson Olanipekun, Nkasi Wodu, Olanike Adeyemo, Oyeronke Oyebanji and Tijani Salami. Also, a creative Nigerian engineer, Yahaya Ahmed, recognised as Director of a non-governmental organisation, Developmental Association of Renewable Energies (DARE) was discovered to have built a house with 14,800 plastic bottles in Kaduna, the first of its kind in Sub-Saharan Africa.
