Here’s how to Access Grant Funding from Google.org Global Impact Challenge for Women and Girls in Africa ($25 million Fund)

To celebrate International Women’s Day, Google recently disclosed that it has set aside the sum of $25m grant funding for its new Global Impact Challenge (GIC) for Women and Girls in Africa. This was revealed by Juliet Ehimuan, Country Director, Google Nigeria, during a virtual event held to mark the International Women’s Day celebration (IWD).

Google, therefore, invites applications from women and girls on the African continent, to reinforce the organization’s commitment to empowering women and girls on the continent.

About the Global Impact Challenge

The Google.org Impact Challenge for Women and Girls commits $25 million to fund organizations creating pathways to prosperity for women and girls. This is an open call for applications, and selected charitable initiatives will receive up to $2 million, as well as opportunities for mentorship and additional support from Google.

Google believes that gender inequity is one of the most urgent challenges faced as a society, and COVID-19 has put the economic future of women and girls at even greater risk. The organization believes that solving big problems require collective action, and the people closest to the challenges are often those closest to the solution.

Google wants to support organizations helping women and girls to turn their economic potential into power: from programs addressing systemic barriers to economic equality, to those cultivating entrepreneurship, developing financial independence, and more.

Application Criteria

Impact:

* The proposed project must create pathways to prosperity for women and girls or empower them to reach their full economic potential.

* The proposed project should benefit a good number of people.

* Your team should identify the right partners and domain experts for implementation. To best understand the needs of those you are serving, your team is expected to have women in leadership positions.
