In a groundbreaking development for the Nigerian film industry, Hollywood star Idris Elba is set to direct Mo Abudu’s Lagos-based short film, “Dust To Dreams.” This collaboration will captivate audiences with its compelling narrative and star-studded cast.

Mo Abudu and Idris Elba Set to Collaborate on Film

“Dust To Dreams” is a collaboration between EbonyLife Films and Afreximbank, facilitated by Canex. This partnership presents an opportunity to showcase African talent globally.

The film explores the complex dynamics of family relationships and focuses on the journey of a mother and her teenage daughter as they navigate life and love. The narrative takes an intriguing turn when the daughter embarks on a quest to meet her father for the first time. This leads to a tale of discovery, reconciliation, and, ultimately, redemption.

Elba, who made his directorial debut in 2018 with Yardie, will direct the film. Mo Abudu will serve as both executive producer and producer, with Heidi Uys as supervising producer. Other producers on the project include Temidayo Makanjuola, Inem King, and Vanessa Demme.

Mo Abudu and Idris Elba Set to Collaborate on Film

The film features a stellar lineup of cast, including British-Nigerian music sensation Seal, who adds an extra layer of star power. Alongside Seal, the film features the esteemed Nse Ikpe-Etim, the captivating Eku Edewor, the talented Atlanta Bridget Johnson, and former Nigerian Idol contestant Constance Olatunde. These talents underscore the film’s commitment to authenticity and diversity, promising audiences a rich tapestry of performances reflecting the Nigerian experience’s depth and complexity.
