Meet Omotunde Akiode, The Scriptwriter Behind The Narrative of The Netflix Animation “Supa Team 4”
Omotunde Akiode, a prolific scriptwriter based in Lagos, began her creative journey with a passion for bringing joy to children. Transitioning from architecture to screenwriting, Omotunde honed her storytelling skills and soon found success in Nigerian TV dramas like Tinsel and Shuga.
Driven by her childhood fascination with animated storytelling, Omotunde delved into animation writing through a training course with Storyteller Pod. With dedication and skill, she ventured into creating immersive animated environments, leveraging her background in architecture.

Omotunde’s talent quickly gained notice, leading to her involvement in various animated projects, including the groundbreaking series “Supa Team 4,” the first African animated show to debut on Netflix.
Omotunde completed both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in Architecture from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. She has other certifications in Digital Filmmaking, Comedy writing, Playwriting and Scriptwriting from the New York Film Academy and Falmouth University.
Despite the challenges of the nascent African animation industry, Omotunde remains optimistic about its potential. Alongside her successful career, she actively promotes the development of African children’s content and trains aspiring storytellers in animation. Her ultimate goal is to garner interest and investment from African stakeholders to propel the industry forward.
