Nigerian Athlete, Blessing Okagbare is a Guinness World Record Holder
Nigerian track and field athlete, Blessing Okagbare has been recognized by the Guinness World Records with a certificate for the most appearances in the IIAF Diamond League Meetings, making a total of 67 appearances between the 3rd of July 2010 and the 31st of August 2018.
The certificate indicates that
“the most appearances in Diamond League meetings by an athlete is 67 and was achieved by Blessing Okagbare (Nigeria) between 3rd July 2010 and 31st August 2018.”
Blessing, who specializes in 100m and 200m long jump and short sprints recently set two new personal indoor records at the Doyle Sports Management Meeting. She is an Olympic and World Championships medalist in the long jump and a world medalist in the 200 metres.
At the African Championships in 2010, Blessing won gold in the long jump with a distance of 6.62m. She also won the Nigerian 100m title in 2010 at 11.04 seconds. She won three medals at the All Africa Games, in Maputo, Mozambique and at the 2010 IAAF Continental Cup and World Relays.
Blessing holds the 2014 Women’s 100 metres Commonwealth Games record for the fastest time at 10.85 seconds, breaking the record of 10.91 seconds. She also won the 2014 commonwealth 200m gold medal with a time of 22.25 seconds. This made her the fourth woman to win the 100m and 200m double at the Commonwealth Games.
Blessing is the current African record holder in the 200m, running at 22.04 seconds in 2018.
