Rema Named One of GQ’s ’27 Musicians to make 2020 Better
The accolades keep pouring in for Rema. Nigerian Afro-pop artiste, songwriter and rapper, Rema has been listed by the GQ magazine as part of the ’27 musicians to make 2020 better” alongside Doja cat, Roddy Ricch, Ari Lennox and others. He was also recently honored by Apple Music who put up his billboard in Los Angeles to mark the Black Music Month.
Rema was discovered after he posted a freestyle of Afro-pop singer D’Prince’s “Gucci Gang” song featuring Don Jazzy and Davido. He signed with the Mavins and rose to fame with the release of the song “Iron Man”. The song made an appearance on Barack Obama’s 2019 summer playlist.
GQ magazine has profiled Rema as an artiste who commands great sounds and one of the strong voices to come out of the African continent.
GQ magazine formerly called Gentlemen’s Quarterly is an international monthly men’s magazine based in New York City and founded in 1931. The publication focuses on men’s fashion, style, and culture for men, though articles on food, movies, fitness, sex, music, travel, sports, technology, and books are also featured.

Not new to receiving recognition for his music, in 2019, Rema won the Next Rated award and was nominated for the Viewer’s Choice award at the 13th edition of the Headies. In January 2020, he received the Soundcity MVP for the best new artist award. In June 2020, Rema was nominated for the 2020 BET Best Viewer’s Choice: International Act award.
