Richard Ayoade
Richard Ayoade is an actor, comedian, writer, director, and television presenter. He is best known for his role as an IT technician in the sitcom “The IT Crowd”, for which he won the award “Best Male Comedy Performance”.
Ayoade’s first real TV break was directing, co-writing and starring with Matthew Holness in the cult classic Garth Marenghi’s Darkplace (2004), a parody of shlocky 1980’s science fiction television shows. In this performance, Ayoade showcased his comedian and acting talent, gaining more exposure and recognition.

Ayoade has directed music videos for Arctic Monkeys, Vampire Weekend, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and Kasabia. He also wrote and directed the comedy-drama film Submarine, which is an adaptation of the novel by Joe Dunthorne.
Ayoade has appeared on several panel shows, the most prominent ones being ” The Big Fat Quiz of the Year”, and “Was It Something I Said?”
Ayoade also presented the factual shows “Gadget Man”, “Travel Man” and he voiced several animated projects, including the films, The Boxtrolls, and Early Man, and the television shows Strange Hill High and Apple & Onion.
Ayoade completed a bachelor’s degree in Law from Cambridge University. He served as the president of Footlights at St Catharine’s College, and he has authored two comedic books centering on film, “Ayoade on Ayoade: A Cinematic Odyssey” and “The Grip of Film”.
