The Nigerian movie industry has grown immensely, creating quality movies worthy of people’s time and financial resources hence people are excited to watch Nigerian cinema movies.

Major film distributors across cinemas in Nigeria include FilmOne, Silverbird Film, Genesis Deluxe Cinemas, and Metro Classic.

According to data from the Cinema Exhibitors Association of Nigeria (CEAN); Living in Bondage:  Breaking Free, Chief Daddy, and Merry Men 2 have been ranked among the highest-grossing West African films of 2019 at the Nigerian cinemas.

Between January 1 and December 31, 2019, Living in  Bondage:  Breaking free,  Chief  Daddy,  Merry Men 2: Another mission, Bling  Lagosians, and  Your  Excellency in terms of movie ticket sales recorded  N158.4  million,  N153.5 million, N141.2 million, N120.1 million and N115.4 million, respectively. With digits over a N100 million per film, we are proud of the Nigerian movie industry and the paying audience.

CEAN is an association comprising of cinema owners, operators, and managers incorporated by the Corporate Affairs Commission of Nigeria on February 13, 2018. Their main objective is to promote and protect the value of cinema exhibition in Nigeria.

Living in Bondage:  Breaking Free is a Nigerian drama thriller film produced by Charles Okpaleke and directed by Ramsey Nouah in his directorial debut. The movie is the sequel to 1992 classic Living in Bondage and it stars selected members of the original casts like Kenneth Okonkwo, Kanayo O. Kanayo and Bob Manuel Udokwu with new stars like Swanky JKA in his breakout role, and director Ramsey Nouah as the main villain.

Chief Daddy is a Nigerian feature film directed by Niyi Akinmolayan, written by Bode Asiyanbi and produced by Mo Abudu and Temidayo Abudu, which was released on December 14, 2018. The movie marked the second-highest opening weekend for a Nollywood film in 2018 and the third-highest-ever opening weekend film, according to FilmOne distribution.

Bling Lagosians is a Nigerian drama directed and produced by Bolanle Austen Peters and written by Anthony Kehinde Joseph. The movie was released on June 16, 2019, with a great cast of Gbenga Titilayo, Sharon Ooja, Alex Ekubo, Elvina Ibru, and Toyin Abraham.

Merry Men 2: Another Mission is a Nigerian comedy directed by Moses Inwang and produced by Darlington Abuda and Ayo Makun. The movie was released on December 20, 2019, starring Ramsey Nouah, Jim Iyke, Folarin Falana, Damilola Adegbite, and Ayo Makun. Within its first weekend (December 20-22, 2019), the movie made N36.89million and as of the second week made a total of N128million which makes it the second-highest movie of 2019.

Your Excellency, an Ebonylife film opened in over 50 theatres across the country on December 13, 2019. The movie is Funke Akindele- Bello’s Directorial debut and within its first two days earned N15.7million and by the second week in the cinemas (December 20th -26th), the movie earned an additional N45 million.
