Nigerian Travel Content Creator Pelumi Nubi Will Solo Drive From London to Lagos
A Nigerian travel content creator, Pelumi Nubi, is set to drive solo from London to Lagos, Nigeria starting from today, 30th January 2024.
Pelumi stated that she is embracing this challenge with the aim of inspiring fellow female solo travellers, especially black women. Her goal is to challenge preconceived notions about the limits of what can be achieved.

Announcing on her Instagram page, Pelumi said, “As far as I know, no black woman has made this journey before. But hey, this isn’t about breaking records. It’s about showing the world that “impossible” is just a word especially when you’ve got grit and determination”.
The trip is scheduled to commence on the 30th of January 2024, and Pelumi plans to travel across 17 countries in two months, visiting every city and landscape along the way.
Pelumi’s route takes her from England through France, Spain, Morocco, and over the Sahara Desert. From there, she’ll go through Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia, Guinea, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Mali, Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Togo, and Benin before finally arriving in Lagos, Nigeria.
Pelumi, who has already visited 80 countries, revealed that the proposed trip will cost $15,000 – $20,000, covering fuel, and other essential needs, and that she will be sleeping in her car for the duration of the trip.
Prior to this, professional motorcyclist, Kunle Adeyanju, completed a 41-day trip to raise funds to fight polio by cycling from London to Nigeria, and becoming the first Nigerian to achieve this feat.
