Joke Silva Will Star as Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti in Forthcoming Biopic “Funmilayo: The Lioness of Lisabi”

Veteran actress Joke Silva will play the role of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti in the forthcoming biopic – “Funmilayo: the Lioness of Lisabi.”
Film director Bolanle Austen-Peters had previously secured the rights to produce a Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti Biopic on 21st November and got access to family archives from the estate of Funmilayo, the late foremost human rights activist in Nigeria and mother of Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

Bolanle also shared a short video on Instagram showing the Kuti family members and Joke Silva in the development stage of the film production.
The film will recount the life of Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti and will include appearances from her grandchildren Femi Kuti, Yeni Kuti playing her Aunt Dolupo, Dotun Ransome Kuti playing his dad Olikoye, Kunle Ransome-Kuti playing his dad Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, and great-grandson Made Kuti.

The film will also star Jide Kosoko, Kehinde Bankole, Ibrahim Suleiman, Abosede Osho, Bukky Ogunnote-Ogunade, Tatian Nassar, Omowumi Dada, Patrick Diabua, Shawn Faqua, and more.
Funmilayo: The Lioness of Lisabi”, is expected to be in cinemas between 2022 and 2023.
