African Union Appoints Dr Tolulola Bayode as Deputy Head, Social Affairs
The African Union – Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOCC) has appointed Dr Tolulola Bayode, a Nigerian philanthropist as Deputy Head, Social Affairs and Health Cluster Committee.
The ECOSOCC is an advisory body of the African Union (AU) which aims to provide civil society organizations with a platform to contribute to the decision-making process of the AU. As an organ of the AU Institution, the ECOSOCC is focused on supporting organizations that advocate for economic sustenance and development in Africa. ECOSOCC enables civil organizations to partake in the development of Africa by providing an enabling environment where their decisions are implemented on various projects and programs led by the AU.

Tolulola Bayode’s appointment by the AU is an acknowledgement of her numerous contributions towards enhancing social development, health and wellness in Nigeria and Africa. Tolulola Bayode has been actively involved in philanthropic activities that have in several ways impacted Nigerians.
As the current Head, Social Affairs and Health Cluster Committee, Tolulola Bayode will implement the overall goals of the Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development Portfolio in line with the AU Agenda 2063. In addition, Tolulola will set annual performance targets for the Health, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Development Portfolio, report on annual progress and achievements to Specialized Technical Committees and AU Policy Organs as well as deliver regular reports to the chairperson of the commission on portfolio delivery
Tolulola’s philanthropic influence is not far-fetched. Through her organization, Dorian Homes in Akure, Ondo State Nigeria, Tolulola has actively contributed to child care development, women development and has illuminated the paths of many children and women. In her quest to take abandoned kids off the streets of Nigeria and provide both physical, psychological and material care they need, Tolulola has fast become prominent within the social care space.
