Burna Boy Nominated at Grammy for the Second Consecutive Year for his Album “Twice as Tall”
Award-winning Afro-fusion/Afrobeat singer, Damini Ogulu, popularly known as Burna Boy has been nominated for the 63rd Grammy awards scheduled to hold on the 31st January 2021 at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, United States. This makes him the first Nigerian artiste to be nominated for the awards in two consecutive years.

Burna Boy was previously nominated in the Best Global Music category of the 62nd Grammy Awards with his African Giant album, which Benin Republic’s singer and songwriter, Angelique Kidjo went on to win.
Burna Boy’s latest album, Twice as Tall has been nominated for the Best Global Music Category, alongside others like Fu Chronicles by Antibalas, Agora by Bebel Gilberto, Love Letters by Anoushka Shankar and Amadjar by Tinariwen.
On the Twice as Tall album, Burna Boy says it is
“a journey through a bunch of emotions and energies at different points in time. It has now morphed into something bigger than me. It serves as a bridge for mankind to show that we are all different but still very much the same.”
Twice as Tall, released on the 14th of August 2020 by Spaceship Entertainment, Atlantic Records and Warner Music received a great reception from fans. The 15-track album is a mixture of Afrobeat, dancehall, pop, and hip hop.
So far, Sade Adu an English singer, songwriter and actress is the only Nigerian-born artist who has won the Grammy awards four times, while veteran juju singer, King Sunny Ade and others like Femi Kuti, Seun Kuti and Babatunde Olatunji have been nominated for their original works. The 63rd Annual Grammy Awards will recognize the best talents in various categories released between the 1st of September 2019 to 31st of August 2020. With his nomination, Burna Boy gets another shot at bringing home one of the world’s most revered music awards and best of its kind.
