CKay Receives His First BRIT Certified Silver Plaque for ”Love Nwantiti”
Two years after the release of ”Love Nwantiti”, Ckay, a Nigerian Afrobeats star is climbing global charts.”
Love Nwantiti (Ah Ah Ah), a TikTok sensation and global hit song off Ckay’s 2019 debut EP – CKay the First, has earned him his first plaque – a BRIT Certified Silver plaque following its sales of 200,000 units.
The song which made a hit comeback in 2021 after a viral TikTok challenge and multiple versions, has topped worldwide charts. It recently earned him his first Billboard Hot 100 entry and the latest feature as Billboard’s Chartbreaker for November.
”Love Nwantiti” is the No. 1 song on YouTube’s Global Chart with 69.6 million views, the most Shazamed song in the world, No. 3 on the UK singles chart and recently recorded a continental success of over 20 million followers on Spotify. Bloomberg also named it as the biggest-ever hit out of Africa.
After various versions of “Love Nwantiti, ” CKay also recently released the official video for the North America remix of the song featuring ElGrandeToto.
About his forthcoming debut album, Ckay told Billboard, “My album is going to be my best work yet… because I’m going to put my whole soul and essence into it.”
