Dr. Olurotimi Badero is the world’s first and only fully trained cardio-nephrologist (heart and kidney specialist). Dr. Badero has received several awards including a Congressional award for outstanding medical career and service to humanity. He has been recognized by the United States where he was recently named as one of the top interventional cardiologists in the country.

Dr. Olurotimi Badero believes in giving back to the community. Thus, he is actively involved in medical mission work as well as non-profit organizations that aim at alleviating the inconsistency in healthcare delivery especially in Africa and other medically underserved areas across the globe.

He is involved in mentorship programs for young physicians and scientists alike and often gets invited by many academic institutions where he teaches resident physicians and medical students periodically. He has been involved in raising awareness of the interrelationship between the heart and kidney through various continuing medical education (CME) and speaking programs. He has served as a consultant to some African Countries in establishing cardio-renal programs, cardiac centers of excellence as well as training and skills transfer. 

Dr. Olurotimi Badero is an international speaker for several empowerments and motivational platforms across the globe. He was a speaker at the 2016 Impact Houston Youth Empowerment Conference, a program organized by the Impact your World Organization to empower Nigerian Youths. Dr. Olurotimi was a panelist at the 2019 World Bank Group-IMF Nigeria Heritage Conference in DC. Also, a speaker at the 2019 “Why I am Alive” Campaign alongside President Olusegun Obasanjo where he received the most purposeful Nigerian Award.

The 47-year-old’s journey to the world of medicine began in Nigeria at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun state, where he first studied medicine. After completing his undergraduate studies at the Obafemi Awolowo University, he enrolled in the school’s medical program and graduated in 1997. 

He completed an Internal Medicine residency at the State University of New York Downstate Medical Centre in Brooklyn, New York. He had a fellowship in Nephrology and Hypertension at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia, and a three-year fellowship in cardiovascular medicine at SUNY Downstate. Furthermore, Dr. Olurotimi completed fellowships in invasive & interventional cardiology and in peripheral vascular intervention at the Yale School of Medicine program at Bridgeport, Connecticut, and a fellowship in interventional nephrology, endovascular medicine, and dialysis access intervention at SUNY Downstate.
