Mo Abudu and Idris Elba partner to take African stories to the global space
Nigerian media entrepreneur Mo Abudu and Hollywood actor Idris Elba announced their partnership through their production companies, EbonyLife Media and Green Door Pictures, to empower and uplift African stories. This happened on Thursday, the 16th of February, 2023.
This collaboration aims to increase capacity and promote genuine representation in upcoming international motion pictures and television shows. The partnership would offer opportunities through two different strategies: capacity development and massive international productions.
These opportunities will aid both the lost generation and the new generation of creative professionals in benefitting from the new education and mentoring initiatives that will be launched through this collaboration, thereby showcasing their talents and sharing their stories with the world.

Abudu and Elba hope to promote a more diverse and inclusive media environment where talents from the diaspora receive the same respect and consideration as those from other cultures and communities. Both of them appeal to global business leaders, the larger public sector, governments, and multilateral organizations to support them in developing talent internationally and building infrastructure in Africa.
They will both partner on events that will empower and promote African talent. The collaboration will assist program graduates through EbonyLife’s Lagos, Nigeria-based ebonylifecreativeacedemy.com academy (a model used all over the continent).
Speaking on the partnership, Idris Elba said, “I have always been passionate about using my platform to make a positive impact. By partnering with Mo, we aim to offer free, world-class industry education to the next generation of storytellers and bring their authentic voices to the forefront. This partnership is a step towards creating a more inclusive and diverse media landscape that represents the voices and experiences of Africa and its Diaspora around the world.”
Mo Abudu also said, “We believe that Africa has the talent and the stories to captivate the world. It’s our mission to offer the best in industry education, mentorship, and production opportunities so that our graduates can become valuable contributors to the global media landscape. We plan to hit the ground running and explore the very best that African and Black stories have to offer global audiences.”
