Entries are now invited for the New Media Writing Prize 2020. The New Media Writing Prize (NMWP) is an annual international award, which encourages and promotes the best in new media writing; showcasing innovative digital fiction, poetry and journalism. The New Media Writing Prize (NMWP) showcases exciting and inventive stories and poetry that integrate a variety of formats, platforms, and digital media.

The prize event is now in its 11th year. As an organization that encourages and promote the best in new media writing, the NMWP has received entries from the very best and most innovative writers from all around the world.

If you are a writer of interactive works, then you may be interested to know that the 2020 edition of the New Media Writing prize is currently open for entries. You can nominate works via the online entry form at https://newmediawritingprize.co.uk/enter/. The organisers are especially encouraging entries from students and will give special consideration to entries from students at undergraduate or postgraduate level.

The winner will receive £1000 donated by if:book UK.

Eligibility Criteria

Anyone can apply. Whether you are a student, a professional, an artist, a writer, a developer, or a designer, the competition is open to all.

It’s an international competition, open to all outside the UK.

Entries do not need to be in English.

Submission Rules

 It is possible for one person to submit more than one entry provided each entry is submitted separately. It is possible for several persons to submit a joint entry provided one entrant is identified as the main contact. 

Each entry should contain the following information within the text of the online form:

 Title of the work.

Entrant’s contact details: name, email address, telephone number and postal address. For joint entries, all entrants’ contact details must be provided with identification of the main entrant for contact purposes. 

Access details, eg URL. If an app, submit 6 free access codes for the judges.

Entrant’s short autobiography (50-100 words). For joint entries, all entrants must provide their autobiographies.

Student entrants must provide a proof of identity which should be copied into the entry form, in the short biography section, e.g. a scan copy of entrant’s Student Union ID card or university enrolment number, which will be authenticated at the organiser’s discretion.

No attachments will be accepted. The email may contain links but may not contain footnotes or formatted text. 

All work entered in the Competition must be original material. The copyright in such work remains with the entrant(s). Each entrant agrees to grant the organisers a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use his/her submitted work.

– Each entrant warrants that the work which (s)he submits for this Competition does not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party and the organisers reserves the right to disqualify any entrant who has submitted a work which constitutes a potential or actual infringement of third parties’ rights.
