Nigerian startup Helium Health secures $10m Series

West Africa’s largest electronic medical records provider, Helium Health, recently secured $10 million investment in Series A funding to aid its expansion plans. The Lagos-based e-health startup has its footprints in Nigeria, Ghana and Liberia. With this new funding, the company is set to grow its customer base and expand into new markets in East Africa, North Africa and Francophone West Africa by the end of 2020. 

Global Ventures, a Dubai-based firm, and Asia Africa Investment and Consulting (AAIC) led the investment round, as the duo stepped up their search for health-related startups amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Helium Health is on a mission to accelerate Africa’s transition to technology and data-driven healthcare sector. They are advancing universal health coverage by providing a suite of full-service solutions for all healthcare stakeholders in emerging markets.

The Helium Health team is inspired by a vision of a connected healthcare ecosystem across Africa that simplifies health access, making it easy for patients to get the care they need when they need it.

“Helium Health has the opportunity to solve large problems through its software and help accelerate healthcare accessibility,” Noor Sweid, General Partner and Founder of Global Ventures stated.

Other investors who participated in the funding include Tencent, Ohara Pharmaceutical Co, HOF Capital, Y Combinator, VentureSouq, Chrysalis Capital, Kairos Angels and Flying Doctors Healthcare Investment Company.
