Ckay’s ”Love Nwantiti” Breaks 4-Year Record Held by Luis Fonsi’s ”Despacito”

Ckay’s ”Love Nwantiti” has broken a 4-year record held by Luis Fonsi ft Daddy Yankee and Justin Beiber’s ”Despacito”. ”Love Nwantiti” (Ah Ah Ah) is the longest-charting #1 song, remaining at no.1 for 20 weeks since the inception of the Portuguese singles chart 33 years ago! This is a huge one for Nigerian Afrobeat music.
This position was previously held by ”Despacito” one of the biggest Latin records in the last decades. The song became the 1st Spanish song to make it to the top of the BBHot 100 since 1996 and spent 16 weeks, only behind Lil Nas x’s “Old Town Road.”
”Despacito” is also the most popular video of all time on YouTube, with over 7.7 billion views, and 1.3 billion on Spotify. It sold over 13m units (Diamond) in the US, making it to the exclusive 18 leagues of Diamond RIAA.

Ckay’s ”Love Nwantiti” which was released in 2019 and went viral in 2020 made a hit come back in 2021 thanks to TikTok, Instareel, and Youtube. ”Love Nwantiti” has 27 plaques, eligible for three platinum in Portugal, seven in India, four in Brazil, three in Canada, two in the US and heading to Platinum In UK, and Diamond in France. It gained over 15 billion views from Tiktok in November 2021, more than 800 million on Spotify and 1.3 billion on Youtube in the last few months.

In November 2021, Ckay was Billboard’s latest chart breaker. He also earned his first plaque – a BRIT Certified Silver plaque on the same month following its sales of 200,000 units.
