Every year, millions of Nigerian students face the same problem. They work hard, study diligently, and score high marks in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, yet they struggle to gain admission into universities. The challenge is not always ability. Oversubscribed institutions, scattered information about cut-off marks, and a lack of visibility into alternative programs create a system where guesswork often dictates success.
KollegeScout, a Nigerian education technology startup founded in August 2025 by Fiyinfoluwa Enis and his sister Jesugbogo Enis, addresses this problem directly. The platform uses a data-driven approach to match students with universities and programs suited to their academic profiles. By centralizing admissions information and connecting students with institutions proactively, KollegeScouts turns what was once a stressful, opaque process into a more informed, manageable experience.
What makes KollegeScout interesting is its origin in real-life experiences. The founders, young software engineers from Nigeria, built the platform from frustration with a system they saw fail talented students. Their approach blends technology with practicality, aiming to ensure every student has access to higher education opportunities.
Built From Experience: The Story Behind KollegeScouts
The idea for KollegeScout emerged from Fiyinfoluwa’s personal experiences and those of close friends. Despite scoring above 320 in the UTME multiple times, one of his friends could not secure admission for four consecutive years. It was only on the fifth attempt, with an even higher score, that she finally succeeded.

Experiencing this gap firsthand revealed a systemic flaw: admission failures were often not about merit but about information, timing, and access to suitable alternatives. With a background in software engineering and experience building digital platforms across payments and gaming, Fiyinfoluwa began exploring how technology could address this inefficiency.
KollegeScout started as a manual advisory and counseling community. Over months of testing and refinement, it evolved into a full platform by August 2, 2025. Jesugbogbo Enis joined the effort to ensure the platform addressed both student needs and institutional processes, making the system practical, scalable, and user-focused.
How KollegeScout Connects Students and Universities
KollegeScout functions as a two-sided marketplace. For students, it begins with creating a profile, including UTME scores, subject combinations, and academic background. The platform screens eligibility and provides guidance on universities and programs that fit each student’s profile. Students may receive direct offers or invitations from institutions they might not have considered, helping them discover new options.

For universities, KollegeScout offers access to a pool of pre-screened candidates. Instead of waiting passively for applications, institutions can reach out to eligible students directly. This is particularly valuable for smaller universities or institutions outside Nigeria’s main education hubs.
Since its launch, over 2,000 students have used KollegeScout. Partner universities include New City University in Ogun State and the College of Agriculture in Kogi State. Early recognition came when the startup was selected for the NASDAQ Entrepreneurial Centre Milestone Makers program, and Fiyinfoluwa was featured on the Nasdaq Tower in New York. The platform demonstrates that a structured, data-driven approach can increase access to higher education and reduce wasted effort.

Challenges, Innovation, and the Road Ahead for KollegeScout
Running an education platform in Nigeria comes with challenges. Revenue depends on seasonal admission cycles, and the pace of university onboarding affects growth. Trust in the algorithmic matching process is crucial, and the system relies on accurate data from both students and institutions.
KollegeScout addresses these issues through centralization and practical guidance. It consolidates university data, admission criteria, and eligibility screening in one place. Students receive actionable recommendations, while universities gain measurable improvements in enrollment efficiency.
Looking ahead, KollegeScout plans to expand its network of universities, introduce premium features for students, and extend operations beyond Nigeria. The vision is clear: create a system where students make informed, confident decisions, and universities connect with candidates efficiently.
Smarter and Easier Admission Process with KollegeScout

KollegeScout shows how a simple, data-focused idea can transform a critical part of Nigeria’s education system. By removing guesswork and providing structured guidance, the platform gives students a fair chance at higher education while helping universities fill available seats.
For students, parents, and educators, exploring Kollegescout today can save time, reduce stress, and improve outcomes. Follow RefinedNG to stay updated on emerging EdTech solutions in Africa and share this resource with anyone navigating the university admissions journey.
