Dr Lawrence Emeagwali

Dr Lawrence Emeagwali is an Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Head, Department of Business Management at the American University Cyprus. With a career spanning more than 10 years, he has lectured, spoken, and researched on issues bordering on Business Strategy and General Business Management. 

Dr Lawrence’s research interests lie within the strategic management field, particularly on the action-based competitive interaction sub-stream of the competitive dynamics research area. Dr Lawrence’s research, practice and teaching experiences have widely impacted various academic and corporate groups.

Dr Lawrence holds a Doctorate in Management (Strategy Focus) from the American University, Cyprus. He is a member of the Strategic Management Society (SMS). 

With a proven track record in business strategy, action-based strategy, competitive strategy and dynamics, strategy formulation and execution, game theory, business management, amongst others, he has worked with various institutions and corporates across a range of developmental stages.

As well as his role as an Associate Professor of Strategic Management and Head of the Department of Business Management at the American University, he is also a  Director at the Center for Management Research (CMR) at the university’s Faculty of Business and Economics.

Being the Director confers him with the responsibilities of initiating and coordinating research activities at CMR. He lectures undergraduate and graduate-level students on Strategic Management and other management-related courses alongside leading research on competitive dynamics.

Before this role, Dr Lawrence worked as a Lecturer, teaching Strategic Management and Organizational Theory at the Graduate School of Social Sciences’ postgraduate MBA and PhD Programs at the American University. He was also Florida Educational Services (FES) Instructor and taught Business English and General English.

Dr Lawrence’s portfolio includes over 40 publications he authored and co-authored. He has attended several conferences including the TEDxGAUniversity in Cyprus, the 2^nd International Conference on Business and Management, Cyprus and the International Conference on Social Media Marketing where he delivered a keynote speech on “Strategic Management in the Age of Social Media.”
