Wizkid Wins Best African Act at the 2021 MTV EMAs’
At the 2021 MTV Europe Music Awards held in Budapest, Hungary; Nigerian star singer Wizkid, received another nod as he won the Best African Act category. Other African artists in the category included Tems, Diamond Platnumz, Amaarae, and Focalistic.
Sharing his latest feat, organizers of the MTV EMA via Instagram wrote, “HUGE congratulations to BIG WIZ @wizkidayo for winning Best African Act! From Lagos to the world #MTVEMA #StarBoyHQ.”
At the awards, K-pop sensations BTS snagged the most nods with four, including Best Pop Best K-Pop, Best Group, and Biggest Fans.

Ed Sheeran won Best Artist and Best Song for his “Bad Habits,” while Eurovision winners Maneskin were voted as Best Rock act.
Ed Sheeran, Maluma, Yungblud, and Kim Petras performed at the awards, with Saweetie hosting.
For the first time, the “MTV EMA Generation Change Award” winners were recognized during the EMAs main show.
This year, Wizkid has received several awards including the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Music Video – Brown Skin Girl, MTV Video Music Award for Best Cinematography – Brown Skin Girl, Grammy Awards for Best Music Video, Headies Awards for Viewer’s Choice, and other nominations such as the Bet Awards and Bet Soul Train Awards.
