After recently hitting the N1 billion mark and becoming Nollywood’s highest grossing film ever, Funke Akindele’s A Tribe Called Judah continues to shatter box office records.  

The film now boasts an impressive N1.236 billion in 27 days – smashing  box office records.

Excited Funke Akindele shared the latest update across social media, thanking her fans for this milestone. “Thank you Lord! Thank you Nigeria! Thank you Ghana!” 

A Tribe Called Judah is advancing the mark to surpass Hollywood hits in Nigerian theater earnings, including the superhero film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, which previously held the record as the top-grossing film in the country.

“This achievement isn’t just about numbers; it’s a testament to the power of storytelling, cultural pride, and the unyielding spirit of Nollywood,” the film’s distributor, FilmOne Entertainment, said on Instagram.

Funke Akindele’s commitment to storytelling has “etched a significant chapter in the vibrant tapestry of Nigerian cinema”.

The film which portrays a scheme to rob a business by five brothers whose mother was battling a sickness and financial hardship, was inspired by Funke Akindele’s late mother, whom she also dedicated the film to.
