Tobi Amusan Breaks 25-Year-Old Record 60m Hurdles Indoor Set by Gloria Alozie

Nigerian sprinter, Tobi Amusan, has set a new African women’s 60-meter hurdles indoor record with a time of 7.77 seconds.

The event took place at the Astana Indoor Meet in Kazakhstan on Saturday, 27th of January, 2024..

Tobi broke the long-standing record of 7.82 seconds set by a fellow Nigerian; Gloria Alozie, in 1999, and made it to the finish line ahead of her competitors, America’s Nia Ali and Ireland’s Sarah Lavin.

Tobi, who was the first Nigerian to win a World Athletics Championship gold, also broke the women’s 100m hurdles world record .She finished strong in 2023, winning her third consecutive Diamond League medal.

Tobi is getting ready for the 2024 Olympic Games, scheduled for Paris and starting from 26 July.
