Burna Boy and Tems have reached a new milestone in global music. The two Nigerian stars are now the first African artists to record eight entries each on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the United States.
The achievement followed fresh debuts from J. Cole’s latest album, The Fall Off. “Bunce Road Blues”, featuring Tems and Future, entered the chart at number 34, while “Only You”, featuring Burna Boy, debuted at number 73. With these new entries, both artists moved past South African rock band Seether, who previously shared the record at seven entries.
The Billboard Hot 100 ranks the most popular songs in the United States each week. The chart combines physical and digital sales, streaming numbers, and radio airplay. Securing a place on the chart requires strong performance across all these areas, making repeated appearances a clear sign of global reach and consistent demand.

Tems Extends Her Global Run

Temilade Openiyi, known professionally as Tems, continues to build a steady presence on the American charts. In 2026 alone, she has recorded three Billboard Hot 100 entries. Earlier this year, “Raindance” featuring Dave and “What You Need” both made the chart before “Bunce Road Blues” added a third entry.
Tems first gained major international attention in 2020 after appearing on Wizkid’s “Essence”, which later peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100 following a remix with Justin Bieber. Since then, she has worked with global acts including Drake and Future, strengthening her visibility outside Africa.
In 2025, she won the Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance for “Love Me JeJe”. That recognition added to her growing profile, but her chart performance shows that her appeal goes beyond awards. At this stage of her career, she has not spent up to a decade in the industry, yet she now holds one of the strongest Billboard records among African artists.
Her consistent entries reflect careful collaborations and songs that travel well across markets. With eight total Hot 100 entries, she stands at the top among African female artists and shares the overall African record with Burna Boy.

Burna Boy’s Six-Year Chart Streak

Burna Boy, born Damini Ogulu, continues to expand his chart history. He has now appeared on the Billboard Hot 100 for six consecutive years, from 2021 through 2026. This makes him the first African artist to maintain such a run.His previous entries include “Loved By You” in 2021, “Last Last” in 2022, “Sittin’ On Top Of The World” and “Talibans II” in 2023, “Just Like Me” and “We Pray” in 2024, and “WGFT” in 2025. The addition of “Only You” in 2026 extends that streak.
Beyond the United States, Burna Boy also holds the record for the most entries by an African artist on the UK Singles Chart, with 25 entries, and 12 on the Canadian Hot 100. These numbers show a wide international footprint that stretches beyond one market.
The new record for eight Billboard Hot 100 entries confirms the continued growth of African music on the global stage. Afrobeats and related sounds are no longer limited to regional audiences. They now compete directly within one of the world’s most closely watched music charts.
