Nigerian media entrepreneur Mo Abudu is taking the EbonyLife Place concept to the United Kingdom with the planned opening of EbonyLife Place London in October 2026.
Located on Wandsworth Road in London, the new venue is set to become a dedicated cultural and creative hub for African and Black cinema, while bringing together food, fashion, music and art under one roof.
A New Home for African Cinema in London
Abudu announced the project on social media, describing EbonyLife Place London as the UK’s first cinema dedicated exclusively to African and Black films.
The new venue will provide a space for audiences to experience stories from Africa and the wider Black diaspora while creating greater visibility for filmmakers and other creatives.
The project expands the EbonyLife Place brand beyond Nigeria and introduces its model of combining entertainment, culture and lifestyle to a major international creative market.
With London serving as an important centre for film, fashion, music and the arts, the new location provides an opportunity to connect African creative work with audiences in the UK and beyond.

EbonyLife Place: More Than a Cinema
EbonyLife Place London is designed to offer visitors more than film screenings. The planned spaces include the Grand Reception, Afrobeat Restaurant, Fèhintì Lounge, Maji Concession & Bar, Zuri Retail and The Living Wall Gallery.
The combination of these spaces is expected to create an environment where visitors can engage with different aspects of African culture during a single visit.
The venue will also provide opportunities for African and Black creatives working across different fields to reach audiences in a setting that brings cinema, hospitality, fashion, food and visual art together.
Expanding African Storytelling Globally
The London project builds on Abudu’s wider work through the EbonyLife brand, which has focused on developing and promoting African stories for local and international audiences.
By establishing a permanent cultural destination in London, EbonyLife Place can provide another platform for African filmmakers, artists, designers, chefs and other creative professionals.
