Davido has added another award to his growing list of achievements after his fifth studio album, 5IVE, won Album of the Year at the 2026 African Muzik Magazine Awards, AFRIMMA.
The Nigerian Afrobeats star was recognised at the awards and music festival, which took place on September 12 at Annette Strauss Square in Dallas, Texas. AFRIMMA confirmed 5IVE as the winner on Tuesday, September 15, as the organisation published its official results.
The win gives Davido another major moment in a year that has already seen his latest project earn nominations and recognition across several awards platforms.

Davido’s 5IVE Takes the Top Album Prize
5IVE emerged from a competitive Album of the Year category featuring some of the biggest names in African music.
Davido’s project was up against Black Sherif’s Top of The Morning Era, Omah Lay’s Clarity of Mind, Asake’s M$NEY, Tyla’s A-Pop and Burna Boy’s No Sign of Weakness. The category also included Lloyiso’s Never Thought I Could, Leigh-Anne’s My Ego Told Me To and Himra’s SORRY I’M BAD.
With artists from Nigeria, Ghana, South Africa, Côte d’Ivoire and the UK represented among the nominees, the category reflected the increasingly broad reach of African music and the different sounds competing for attention across the continent and diaspora.

A Strong Night for Davido

AFRIMMA returned in 2026 after a two-year break, with the awards incorporated into a new music festival format in Dallas. The comeback brought together artists and music industry figures from across Africa and the diaspora, with 41 honours presented across different categories.
