Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi is preparing to take another bold step outside football as he officially announces his debut EP, More To Life. The Fulham star, who records under the artist name 17, revealed on Monday, March 30, that the project will be released on April 9, 2026.
Iwobi has already given fans an early preview with the release of the lead single ‘Track 0 (Freestyle)”, a confident introduction that highlights his lyrical ability and growing presence in music. While many footballers have flirted with music over the years, Iwobi’s approach has been more deliberate. This is not a side hobby. It is a serious creative path he has been building quietly for years.
The announcement also came with striking artwork that reflects the theme behind the project. A black and white image of Iwobi, eyes closed and dressed in a hoodie and beanie, is paired with childhood photos from 1998, 2004 and 2010. Together, they tell a story of growth, identity and reflection. The message is clear. This project is not just about sound; it is about his journey.

Blending Football, Culture and Sound
More To Life is expected to deliver a rich mix of Afrobeats and Afrowave, drawing deeply from Iwobi’s Nigerian roots while also reflecting his London upbringing. The eight-track project features a diverse list of collaborators, including Giddi, Teniola Time, 4AM, P17 and SPKS.

One of the standout appearances comes from Aston Villa midfielder Amadou Onana, who records under the name 24AM. The inclusion of fellow footballers highlights the growing connection between sport and music, particularly among a new generation of athletes who see creativity as an extension of their identity.
Another major feature comes from Fido, the artist behind Joy Is Coming, widely recognised as Nigeria’s biggest song of 2025. His presence on the track “Joanna”, is likely to draw significant attention and adds commercial weight to the project.
The EP’s tracklist shows a balance between solo expression and collaboration. Songs like “Mine”, “Bussdown” and “By My Side” suggest a mix of reflective moments and high-energy sounds, while “Joga Bonito” hints at a playful connection to his football roots. Altogether, the project positions Iwobi as an artist willing to experiment while staying grounded in familiar influences.

A Growing Music Journey Beyond the Pitch

Iwobi’s journey into music did not start overnight. Although he officially launched his career in 2024, he has been making music since his early teenage years. He chose to wait until the off-season before releasing his first official single to avoid distractions during the football calendar.
His debut track Don’t Shoot carried a strong social message, addressing street violence and encouraging young people to pursue better paths. He followed this with “What’s Luv?”, a more relaxed and expressive record that explored relationships and identity. By 2025, he had already begun working with established names, including Ramz and ODUMODUBLVCK, showing clear ambition to grow within the industry.
What makes Iwobi’s transition unique is the balance he maintains. With close to 100 caps for Nigeria and a steady career in the Premier League, he continues to perform at the highest level in football while developing his sound as an artist. Through his creative platform Project 17, he has made it clear that music is not a distraction but an extension of who he is.
As the release date approaches, More To Life represents a defining moment. It is a test of how far he has come and how seriously audiences are willing to take him beyond football.
