Her performance in Children of Mud was so moving that it earned her a nomination for Best Actress in a Drama at the 2018 AMVCAs, making her the youngest nominee in the history of the awards. Competing alongside industry legends like Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde and Keira Hewatch, Mariam proved that talent has no age limit

Now in its 11th edition, the AMVCA has solidified its reputation as Africa’s most prestigious film and television awards, recognizing outstanding achievements in acting, directing, screenwriting, cinematography, and digital content creation.

Based on the critically acclaimed graphic novel “Iyanu: Child of Wonder” by Nigerian filmmaker Roye Okupe, the series is produced by Lion Forge Entertainment and showcases a richly detailed, action-packed story inspired by Yoruba culture and mythology.

The story of Nigerian cinema begins during the colonial era, when films like “Palaver” (1926) and “Sanders of the River” (1935) first graced the screens, featuring Nigerian actors. Back then, movies were not just entertainment but also tools for spreading messages, especially by missionaries who used them for religious propaganda.

Kehinde joins the original cast from 2023’s production, which includes Malick Bojang (Grandfather, Chocolate, and Storyteller), Althea Burey (Mama, Angel, and Storyteller),  Dorthea Darby (Grandmother, Uncle Tunde, Benz, and Storyteller), Julius Obende (Papa, on-stage musician, and Storyteller), and Saskia Rose (Anna Hibiscus and Storyteller)
