King of Boys is Netflix’s First Original Series out of Nigeria!

Kemi Adetiba’s recent announcement on various social platforms has left fans abuzz with excitement. Three years after the release of one of the highest-grossing Nollywood movies of all time, King of Boys is coming to Netflix as a seven-part limited series and the streamer’s first original series out of Nigeria! Additionally, King of Boys Is now called King of Boys: The Return of the King.

As well as her fans, Kemi is also excited. See her statement:

”When I decided to tell the King of Boys story, I never imagined it would take on a life of its own in the way it has. It’s been such an exciting ride from its introduction in 2018 to the Nigerian audience, and their reception was so incredible that the fans have been clamouring for more.

I’m so honoured that today, I get to share the world of Eniola Salami and King of Boys 2: The Return of the King to a global audience, but this time with the massive backing of Netflix. Continuing the King of Boys journey with Netflix is a big deal for me, especially as this time, it will be served to the world as a limited 7-part series.”

Netflix has also released a teaser for the upcoming series. The teaser follows the media attention accorded to Eniola Salami, (a role played by Sola Sobowale) after her return from a five-year exile. King of Boys: The Return of the King will see  Odogwu Malay (IllBliss), Makanaki (Reminisce), Aare Akinwande (Akin Lewis), Sade Bello (Osas Ighodaro), President Mumusa (Keppy Ekpeyoung) and Ade Tiger (Titi Kuti) reprise their roles. The new addition to the cast includes First Lady Jumoke Randle (Nse Ikpe-Etim), Reverend Ifeanyi (Richard Mofe Damijo), Adetola Fashina (Deyemi Okanlawon), Governor Tunde Randle (Lord Frank), Odudubariba (Charly Boy) and Dapo Banjo (Efa Iwara).

King of Boys is Netflix’s First Original Series out of Nigeria!

KOB is produced by Kemi Adetiba Visuals. The movie is a sequel to the highly successful 2018 political drama that gained media attention following its fascinating storyline. The movie has so far remained on the list of the highest-grossing Nigerian films to date.

Movie stars like Sola Sobowale and Adesua Etomi-Wellington won awards such as the 2019 Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) for Best Actress in a Leading Role and Best Actress in a Supporting Role following the huge success recorded.

KOB lovers can now confidently set their reminders and refresh their Netflix accounts as the highly-anticipated sequel is expected to premiere on Netflix on the 27th of August, 2021.
