Terra Kulture, an educational and recreational organization was founded in 2003 by Bolanle Austen-Peters as a focused center for arts promotes the richness and diversity of Nigerian languages, arts, and culture. The organisation has been outstanding in its achievements particularly in leading the renaissance of Nigerian musical and stage plays.

Terra Kulture is a beautiful and well-designed multipurpose art center that includes the Nigerian Language and craft school, the Reading and documentation center, Terra Food court, Terra Kulture Art Gallery, Terra Library & Bookstore, Terra Event Center, and the Terra Kulture Theatre.

The Reading and documentation center houses a wide variety of Nigerian and African books. The center organizes book readings, book fairs, and lectures on selected topics. Book readings have been hosted by renowned Nigerian authors such as Wole Soyinka, Sefi Atta, Chimamanda Adichie, among others. True to its purpose, the book reading sessions have supported the development of new writers and re-awakened the Nigerian reading culture.

Several prominent shows originated by the Bolanle Austen-Peters Production (BAP) have been showcased at the organisation’s theatre. The well-known stage play, Saro: The Musical which was held in November 2013 and featured the largest crew in the history of Nigerian theatre with 103 performers is one of the numerous stage productions associated with Terra Kulture. Post the resounding success of Saro: The Musical, Terra Kulture has been home to several musicals and stage performances.

The Nigerian language and craft school, a language learning center ensure Nigerian languages are passed on from generation to generation and made popular at home and abroad. The art gallery features a remarkable collection of artworks and has showcased several thematic exhibitions focused on the diversity of Nigeria. The gallery organizes interactive sessions with renowned members of the art community. The gallery has been in partnership with the Ford Foundation since its inception.

The Terra Kulture Food court boasts a delicious Nigerian menu and the craft shop section promotes made in Nigeria gifts and craft items. Terra Kulture is one of the only two art auction houses in Nigeria, with a collection of over a thousand art heritage pieces from different parts of Nigeria.

Since its establishment to date, Terra Kulture has had over 200 art exhibitions, 135 plays, 65 book readings, and over 10,000 individual adults and children, as well as school trips, have attended their language classes.

Terra Kulture is recognized as a major cultural hub in Lagos, Nigeria. The organization has attracted visits from internationally recognized personalities such as Roberto Cavalli, Forest Whitaker, Ben Stiller, and many diplomats and highly placed local and foreign Government functionaries. It has hosted many visits from local and international students such as Harvard, MIT, Chinese University of Hong Kong, among
several others.
