Victor Oladipo Traded to Miami Heat
Miami Heat has acquired star guard Victor Oladipo from the Houston Rockets. The Heat gave up guard Avery Bradley and forward Kelly Olynyk, agreeing to a draft swap per the Athletic. Victor Oladipo was traded for the second time this season, moving from Houston Rockets to Miami Heat on NBA trade deadline day.
Victor Oladipo was previously acquired by the Rockets in January as part of the James Harden trade. He averaged 21.2 points in 20 games with Houston Rockets.
Before joining the Rockets, Oladipo was a two-time NBA All-Star with the Indiana Pacers, where he played three seasons for Tom Cream from 2011 to 2013. He was originally drafted by the Orlando Magic with the No. 2 pick in 2013 and has played with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He has also been a top defender, being named to the All-Defensive First Team in 2018, when he led the NBA in steals and was also named the league’s Most Improved Player.
The Heat will be his third team this season, and fifth team in his eight years in the NBA.
The 28-year old player is in the final season of a four-year $85 million contract and can become a free agent come summer. Oladipo, despite an inconsistent return from several injuries, was named an Eastern Conference All-Star reserve for the second straight year. Victor Oladipo is still averaging near career highs this season.
